Amazon Launches Personal Shopper Service for Men

Amazon introduced a new personal shopping service that allows customers to virtually shop for the latest tech and fashion with Amazon’s branded virtual assistants. Shoppers can use Alexa or Echo Plus, a smartphone version of the Echo, to virtually shop in Amazon Fashion.

This marks the first time Amazon has launched a personal shopping service for men specifically.

The virtual shopping experience is like an Amazon Barbie: Make the Echo do what a Barbie does for you:

Scare you: Alexa can tell you the price of the item you’re shopping, tell you the ideal fit, and add the item to your shopping cart. If it’s beyond your budget, you can ask Alexa to suggest a reduced price. For example, “Alexa, lower the price of the item to $10.99” or “Alexa, find me a 20 percent off coupon for dress shirts at Men’s Wearhouse.”

Juggle prices: Alexa can tell you what the item will cost on Amazon.com if you’re not sure. You can add the item to your shopping cart and add another price by just saying, “Alexa, buy this product for $49.99.” You can add it to your shopping cart while it’s in your shopping cart and tell Alexa how much you want to spend and to show your credit card.

Shoot video: While the video notes that it’s a virtual shopping experience, Alexa can review your video during the shopping experience and then save the relevant video footage to your Amazon Shopping History to help you compare products.

Payment: Amazon announced a new way to pay for items with Alexa. You can pay with your Bank of America credit card with a simple voice command. This is in addition to online shopping with Capital One Venture Rewards or Target.

Women can shop for men with Alexa too.

Shoppers can buy a fashion look in seconds with the Echo. “What color are you looking for?” asks Alexa as you speak a request.

Shoppers can order a look from within a minute. Alexa will also tell you the style, the color and the fit.

Your order is shipped automatically within 4-8 business days.

If a dress shirt is not available, Alexa will suggest other styles.

Expect to pay for everything (inclusive of shipping) about $35, with some price reductions

You’ll pay $4.99 for a select selection of movies, music, and audiobooks

The service is limited to items sold by Amazon and Alexa doesn’t tell you how much it’s costing.

The service launched today. This story was reported by CNBC and originally published in The Amazon Daily Report, a TechCrunch-produced newsletter.
