FAA Brings Commercial Drone Deliveries One Step Closer With New Rules

Years have passed since the technology was first proposed as a means of last-mile delivery, with the occasional but successful test in the interim. Amazon continues patenting new adaptations for its eventual drone delivery system, currently proposing a sort of dock resembling a dwelling for homing birds, wherein the flying machines can be reloaded with items for delivery.

“We believe drone technology has the potential to offer the cargo community cost-effective solutions to complex issues related to supply chain distribution in non-traditional markets, including remote communities in Canada,” said Tim Strauss, vice-president of cargo at Air Canada in a press release. He is also an independent member of Drone Delivery Canada’s advisory board.
