There has been a change of direction recently at Facebook, one that I am not too sure I totally support.
They are now pushing out updates to their apps to allow video chats with a small percentage of users and that it’s in preparation for a future rollout in the coming months.
They are also rolling out cool animated stickers, in addition to their regular format, which they believe will come in handy for short messages.
Admittedly, I’m still rather unhappy with how they are using your data in Europe, but the best news is that the new update is available for all users right now.
Facebook Video Chat for Everyone
The new video chat option is available for absolutely everyone to try out, although not everyone has access yet. If you receive the notification that you can use the new video chat options, I have a feeling you might like it a lot.
The reason it is effective on some users is because they are using AI to estimate the length of a Facebook chat.
How to use the feature:
One, you can press the giant, smiling face, and hit “video.”
Two, you can choose one of five animated stickers to play as a theme.
Three, you can swipe right to skip a video clip.
Four, tap on the box to reveal “open to more.”
Five, you can tap on the video camera and it will open a conversation window.
Of course, you can turn this feature off at any time in the settings.
More Group Video Calls Features
Not only are the animated stickers, group video calls and group stickers available for everyone, but they are already available to everyone on WhatsApp as well. The improvements are only available to those who have the latest version.
This means that you need to update to the latest version of WhatsApp on your Android or iOS mobile device to be able to use the new features and they have to be updated to version 0.71.03 to use the animated stickers.
